Kappa is shaking up the vintage sportswear world
This is the best way to describe the Italian sporting goods manufacturer from Turin! The label was founded in 1967 and, like Fila, first made underwear! Over the years, the company has constantly redefined itself in terms of its products and is now best known for the diversity of its products. Kappa produces high quality clothing for a variety of sports such as basketball, hockey, football, golf and many more. But as we all know by now, sportswear is no longer only intended for sports - many sportswear clothes have already made it into the streetwear area! Kappa is therefore also popular in everyday leisure time and is particularly popular with young people thanks to its cool sportswear with a characteristic logo. Kappa built up an international network surprisingly quickly and sells their clothing worldwide in Europe, Africa, America and Asia. Kappa has been involved in sponsoring all sports teams since 1970, but above all football teams such as Juventus Turin, Borussia Dortmund and VFL Wolfsburg, to name just a few. In 2000, Kappa also launched the first form-fitting football jersey under the slogan “Stop Stopping”, which proved very useful in the sport - making it harder for opponents to cling to the clothing. Kappa became particularly well known at the 1984 Olympic Games, where American athletes were dressed in Kappa.
How did the Kappa logo come about?
Everyone knows the Kappa logo of the couple leaning against each other and you would be lying if you said you haven't wondered where the logo actually came from? In fact, it was created purely by coincidence after a 1969 swimwear shoot, after the couple who were modeling sat down exhausted back to back and a photographer snapped the couple. This is how the Kappa logo was born! It stands symbolically for mutual help and support as well as equality between men and women in sport as well as in everyday life and is intended to show that one is one with mutual help - a sign of humanity.
How do I style Vintage Kappa?
Sportswear brands that focus on simple design, casual fashion and large, visible logos are currently very popular again, especially among young people. Fashion from Kappa makes you look casual everywhere - whether on the sports field or on the streets. For the tracksuit look, rock a Kappa trackpant on your vintage Kappa track jacket and your vintage Kappa hoodie or sweater on wide jeans!
